Robert “Doc” Stabler Award

Robert “Doc” Stabler was a foundational figure in Colorado lacrosse, best known for creating and coaching the men’s lacrosse program at Colorado College in 1964. He led the team as head coach for many of its early seasons, helping establish a competitive and lasting lacrosse presence at the college level in the region. Stabler is known not just for his lacrosse coaching and bringing Division III lacrosse to the western United States, but also his broader commitment to college athletics and the development of well-rounded student athletes.

The Robert “Doc” Stabler Award honors a senior student whose impact reaches beyond the lacrosse field. Presented annually, this recognition celebrates a student-athlete who ranks among the best lacrosse players in the state while also exemplifying academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, meaningful school and community involvement, and outstanding personal character. Each year’s recipient reflects the well-rounded achievement, integrity, and dedication that define the spirit of Robert “Doc” Stabler.
