The Alie Brothers: Bellarmine’s Dynamic Lacrosse Duo

John and Joe Alie are cornerstones of the Bellarmine University lacrosse program, exhibiting not only their skill on the field but also their leadership off it. Both brothers, who played for Grandview High School before transitioning to Division I lacrosse, have made a significant impact in their time with the Knights.

John, a captain for the 2026 season, is a senior leader recognized for his incredible finishing ability. Bellarmine head coach Andrew Whitley has praised his ability to find the back of the net, often scoring highlight-reel goals that are replayed time and again. In 2025, he was Bellarmine's top goal scorer.

Joe is a sophomore and also established himself as a top goal scorer during his first year, with only his brother, John, putting in more for Bellarmine. His accurate shooting and ability to consistently find scoring opportunities make him a "pure goal scorer," as his coaches describe him.

Through the first 8 games in 2026, the Alie brothers once again remain the top two goal scorers for Bellarmine.

Both brothers’ offensive skills are supported by their scholastic achievements, as they have regularly excelled in the classroom, balancing high-level lacrosse with impressive GPAs. John was honored by being selected the Atlantic Sun Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2025.

John was a Colorado high school All-American selection in 2022, with Joe earning Academic All-American honors.  Their commitment to excellence, whether on the field or in the classroom, reflects the work ethic that has set them apart since their high school days at Grandview.

The Alie brothers are two key players on the Bellarmine roster, and their continued success at the collegiate level makes them a brotherly duo worth watching.
